The cross-country trail running in the Accursed Mountains is magical. It is the perfect combination of wilderness trails, peak fall colors with snow dusting the high peaks, the family-run guesthouses and traditional home-cooked meals.

Over the four days we’ll run through borderlands that will leave runners breathless, both from the terrain and the beauty of the accursed mountains of Kosovo, Albania, and Montenegro. With daily runs between 20-45 kilometer, there are trails to match your motivation and ability.


Meet your fellow runners in Prishtina and drive to Rugova Valley

Meet and greet with the guide in Prishtina, followed by a transfer towards Kuqishte, passing through the beautiful Canyon of Rugova. If you arrive earlier in the day, the guide is happy to recommend a short walk in the area to warm up or some other activities like Via Ferrata in the Rugova canyon.

We meet again in the evening for an orientation and a review of the trip itinerary and gear list. We enjoy a family-style dinner, then get a good sleep to be well-rested for tomorrow’s run. Dinner included.

Cross-border running from Kosovo to Montenegro

After morning, we get ready for one full-spectacular run through the spectacular Peaks of the Balkans cross-border trail from Kosovo to Montenegro. We pass two amazing glacial lakes and reach a pass of around 2200, then we run in border ridge between the two countries. We run through Babino Polje village in Montenegro, passing the beautiful Hrid Lake and end up in Plav town.

Spectacular run from Plav town to Vuthaj village through Bori peak

Our day starts as usually —hot coffee and breakfast! Today's run starts from the city of Plav (968 m), climbs up to Bor Peak (2106 m), and finishes at the village of Vuthaj (Vusanje, 1022 m). We'll warm up in a dirt road then we reach the spectacular Bori ridge for the amazing views of the Albanian Alps in front. Your skilled guides will prepare some coffee & tea at lunch time then get ready for running down to the nex hut. All meals included.

A dramatic trail running into Albanian Alps: From Vuthaj via Jezerca lake to Valbona Valley

Get ready to experience a day like no other, filled with awe-inspiring sights and beautiful scenery in the most amazing part of the Albanian Alps. After enjoying a fresh breakfast and a cup of coffee, we start running from our guesthouse towards the Jezeca lakes up in 1800m alt. We'll spend some time at the lakes and perhaps take a swim then the guide will prepare some coffee and tea for an amazing rest.

After spending some great time at the lakes, it is time to run up to another pass in a very amazing trail with spectacular views of the Alps. Once we arrive at Shelega pass, around 2100m, the highest for today, we run down enjoying the views of the Valbona Valley in front.

Along the Peaks of the Balkans trail: From Valbona Valley, via Cerem to Doberdol pasture

Today we run along the Peaks of the Balkans trail following the old 4x4 to Cerem then the trail in the forest to reach Doberdol Pasture. Of course, from Valbona to Cerem we can take also the challenging trail via Prejsllopi pass which is more challenging but much more amazing, a dramatic trail.

On the way, we will stop for lunch to a local family. Overnight in Doberdol pasture. An amazing valley to spend a night.

From Doberdol via the Three-Border-Peak to Gjeravica summit, the highest peak in Kosovo

Our triumphant run to the highest summit in Kosovo, is a perfect way to cap off six days running in the Accursed Mountains of Albania & Kosovo. We'll warm up first to reach the three border summit then run on the ridge to reach the Heart lake then up to the summit of Gjeravica, 2656m alt. The final destination to end up the tour is Junik town.

We will celebrate this tour with a very delicious dinner then drive to Prishtina/Prizren.
